DS 450 EFI X
mx
STANDARD FEATURES
Rotax 449 cc EFI engine engine
The DS 450 EFI X mx is equipped with a 449 cc 4-stroke EFI Rotax engine, offers the largest bore (97 mm), the largest intake valves (38 mm), the largest throttle body (46 mm), and an almost straight intake path. With a concept referred to as "Durchzugskraft" or flow dynamics optimization, the engine breathes easily and can produce more power. The DS 450 EFI X mx delivers the best power-to-weight ratio.
ALTEC frame frame
A maximum strength, no-weld, all-aluminum frame that uses a twin pyramidal structure. Major components are firmly secured with aluminum fasteners called lock-bolts. The frame is stronger yet much lighter than a traditional ladder frame.
50-inch width width
At 50 inches (1,270 mm) wide, the DS 450 X mx meets the recognized standard for motocross racing with its stock +2 (51 mm) A-arms. Racers will not have to purchase expensive aftermarket A-arms to take the X mx to the track and be competitive.
Anti-vibe steering stem steering
A +1-inch (25 mm) extra-strength steering stem with anti-vibe mounts comes standard on the DS 450 X mx. This gives the racer a better feel for the ATV while out on the track in a racing stance. Again, there is no need to buy an aftermarket stem to be competitive. Mounted to the steering stem is an aluminum 6061-T6 taper-profile handlebar with square racing pad.
Camber-caster adjustable front end frontend
The front end of the DS 450 X mx is completely adjustable with a shim-style adjustment. Each shim represents one-degree of adjustment with camber adjustable from 11 degrees to 15 degrees; caster is adjustable from 3 degrees to 10 degrees. This allows the racer to completely "dial in" the DS 450 X mx for his or her preference.
Front suspension frontsusp
Kashima-coated KYB HPG C40 aluminum piggyback front shocks with dual-speed compression, rebound and preload adjustments, and 10.7 inches (272 mm) of travel.
Rear suspension rearsusp
Kashima-coated KYB HPG C46 aluminum remote reservoir rear shock with dual-speed compression, rebound and preload adjustments, and 10.7 inches (272 mm) of travel
MX Pro tires and wheels package wheels
High-performance ITP QuadCross MX Pro tires give maximized traction on track surfaces, especially for blue-grooved. The rear tires are 18-inch motocross-ready tires complete with 8-inch (203 mm) black, aluminum ITP T-9 beadlock wheels with an inner reinforcement ring. Up front, 20-inch (508 mm) ITP QuadCross MX Pro tires mounted on 10-inch (254 mm) black, aluminum ITP T-9 wheels.
Aluminum nerf bars bars
In order to race motocross at any level, nerf bars are a requirement. Straight from the factory, the DS 450 X mx comes complete with lightweight aluminum nerf bars with aluminum heel guards. If one desires, the nerf bars, side extensions and heel guards can be removed with ease.
Adjustable-width axle adjustaxle
Many of top motocross pros are choosing to race with a rear width that is slightly narrower than the front-end width. This is possible with the DS 450 X mx Chromoly 4140 adjustable-width hollow axle. Adjustment from 46 (1,168 mm) to 50 inches (1,270 mm) is possible with 0.5-inch (13 mm) spacers.
Motocross-specific amenities amenities
From the factory, the ride height of the DS 450 X mx is set at seven inches (178 mm) (assuming a 175-pound rider (79 kg) with gear), meaning exceptional cornering performance for a lower center of gravity.
Hollow rear axle axle
The hollow, high-strength steel axle has been shortened by extending the length of aluminum hubs. The final design: a shorter axle mated with “spider” all-aluminum hubs with precision-machined splines and longer arms. The rear unsprung weight of the DS 450 EFI X mx is therefore reduced, which also has a significant impact on mass centralization and dry weight.
Inverted brake calipers calipers
Inverted twin-piston brake calipers offer impressive stopping power because of the larger brake discs.
Maximum mass centralization mass
Mass moment of inertia is a measure that indicates how difficult it is to put an object into rotation around its axis. The lower the measurement, the higher the mass centralization. The mass moment of inertia for the DS 450 EFI X mx is as low as possible for the greatest possible agility.
Shortened spindle spindle
The spindle acts as a lever on the steering ball joints. The longer the lever (see A), the more the kickback is transmitted to the steering when the wheel hits an obstacle. The DS 450 EFI X mx short spindle (see B) lever reduces negative steering feedback, providing a more confidence-inspiring ride.
