The 2010 ATV race season started in spectacular fashion for many of the Can-Am X-Team racers Sunday at the Grand National Cross Country opening round near Lake Wells, Florida. Team Warnert Racing / Can-Am® rider, Adam McGill, had a great debut on the Can-Am DS 450™ EFI ATV taking third overall in the afternoon in XC1 Pro class. He and his teammate, Chris Bithell, had their DS 450 ATVs up front for the entire two-hour race with McGill leading for two of the five laps. Bithell finished fourth overall. Warnert Racing's Lexie Coulter piloted her DS 450 to the Women's class win and the morning overall title; this is her first overall win on the DS 450.
Team Motoworks / Can-Am® DS 450™ pilot Josh Frederick narrowly missed taking the WORCS round-one and was determined to make up for it. During the weeks between the race, Frederick trained harder and the team changed some suspension settings. It worked. Round two saw Frederick battle to the front during the race and once he had the lead, he didn't look back. Frederick won the race by almost a minute on second place; he is now tied for the points lead.
Racer Productions and BRP are excited to announce the return of Can-Am as title sponsor of the 13-stop Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) series for another three years.
Team Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450™ EFI ATV racer Chad Wienen is the inaugural Pro-class World MX Racing Champion after the final weekend of racing for the series. This after the Team Motoworks / Can-Am semi-truck carrying Wienen's race ATV and all the team's equipment caught fire on the way to the Anza, CA track a day before the final two rounds were set to start. After working all night Friday to prep another DS 450, the race team was ready to battle hard for the championship.
Jeremie Warnia raced his Motoworks-prepped Can-AmTM DS 450TM to the win in the famous Le Touquet Beach Race on the English Channel in his native France. Warnia was the fastest during the course three-hour race, beating second place by almost four minutes. With more than 500 total competitors in the race, the course was plenty beat up, but Warnia's DS 450 took the punishment for three solid hours of racing. Warnia will now return to the United States to train for the upcoming AMA ATV Motocross National Championship, which starts in late March.
